Become a Mentor
“A mentor is someone who sees more talent and ability within you, than you see in yourself, and helps bring it out of you.” — Bob Proctor
What it takes to be a mentor?
Commitment
Our mentors must be willing to make a commitment to the mentor-mentee relationship. This means that mentors must be willing to regularly show up. Being consistent and reliable is essential in building a trusting relationship with their mentees, which is the foundation for a successful youth mentoring program.
Time
Our mentors are required to visit their mentee at least twice a month during the school year. Each mentor visit will take place on campus during the mentees lunch period. The total duration of the visit may last 30-45 minutes.
Empathy
Empathy is a fundamental quality that allows mentors to understand the unique challenges and experiences of their mentees. A successful mentor creates a safe and supportive environment where mentees feel heard and understood.

Why become a mentor?
Mentoring, at its core, guarantees young people that there is someone who cares about them, assures them they are not alone in dealing with day-to-day challenges and makes them feel like they matter.
Benefits of Mentoring
Mentoring relationships are typically mutually beneficial, and mentors often find that they learn as much from mentees as the other way around. Here are some of the benefits:
- Enhanced Leadership Skills
- Gaining New Perspectives
- Increased Happiness and Sense of Purpose
